About twenty min down the road is TUMAN, home to the Melanesian Nazarene Bible College and the Melanesian Teachers College. A short tour with their chaplain showed a vibrant community with approx. 50 pastor trainees and 450 teacher trainees. I'm sure in our coming weeks and months we will probably have more to do on this campus, but we wanted to let you know that there are a number of great ministries here in PNG that have a long history of serving the church. ​

We were able to spend a beautiful week in Fiji on our journey to PNG and the highlight was meeting with District Superintendent Sanela and his wife, Pastor Leilani. They shared about what God is doing in Fiji across the 26 churches in the islands and invited us to attend a local Nazarene Church with them on Sunday to see for ourselves. We traveled for an hour and a half outside of Nadi to the village of Natanuku to the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene. What a privilege to worship with our sisters and brothers in Fiji! They invited us to speak (very last minute!) and share our testimony. ​

Our journey to PNG began on Saturday 12 September when we had our final goodbye with friends at Southside...we then loaded 15 large suitcases and 5 carry ons and 5 backpacks into a few vehicles and headed to the airport. We traveled from Edmonton to Vancouver to Nadi, Fiji (with a week layover) to Port Moresby, PNG (and an overnight layover) before finally boarding the final flight to Mt. Hagen, landing on the 22nd September. What a journey! A warm welcome awaited us as we pulled into our new home. Our first week has been full of unpacking, starting school, going shopping for supplies, and feeling a little bit overwhelmed at it all. We also had a tour of the station here in Kudjip, plus a tour of TUMAN, both we will share about in other posts. 

Another incredible trip down memory lane! This time at our church in Wales. We pastored here for 4 1/2 years before moving to Canada, and this was where we began our journey as lead co-pastors. So many great memories in this place. 

What a trip down memory lane! We had the privilege of sharing in the Carlisle Church of the Nazarene in Northern England while we were visiting family this summer. 

We have exciting news as all of our visas have been approved and are in hand! We officially leave for this new adventure on September 12. We will spend a week in Fiji experiencing what God is doing there, and then land in Papua New Guinea on the 21 September, finally arriving at our new home on the 22nd. 

​On Sunday 26 July we led our final service as the pastors of Southside Community Church of the Nazarene in Edmonton. We have been here for 10 years and it has been an incredible journey. We are so thankful for a church who called a young family all those years ago and allowed us to dream as we grew together in following Jesus. Southside embraced us as a family and we have been so blessed these past 10 years. It was very hard to say goodbye but we are thankful that we are only transitioning from their pastors to their sent missionaries and that we get to stay a part of the ministry of Southside in this new capacity!
